OUR HISTORY

A Century-Long Story

Since 1928, IPZS has played a key role in the design and production of security documents and secure products for the Italian State. Today, while continuing this legacy, the Company is increasingly driving digital innovation, developing advanced solutions that combine security, technology and public service.

carrying on the legacy of the Government Securities Printing Works of Turin, founded in 1865 by the then Finance Minister Quintino Sella.

The Foggia plant is acquired

formerly INCEDIT (Industria Cellulosa d'Italia), a historic paper mill and the original nucleus of an industrial and manufacturing operation that is today a centre of excellence for the region

IPS acquires the Mint

and with it its present name and a thousand-year history: the earliest mint in Rome dates to the 3rd century BC, near the temple of Juno Moneta.

The first Euro is struck

in the presence of the then Treasury Minister, Azeglio Ciampi. The coin would enter circulation on 1 January 2002.

The Verrès plant is acquired

a supplier of coin blanks to the Mint since 1974 and a manufacturer of vehicle licence plates since 2019.
