Ferrari Makes Its Debut in Italian Numismatics

Rome, 4 June 2026 – Speed, innovation, and Italian design come together in the new numismatic issues dedicated to Ferrari, among the highlights of the 2026 Numismatic Collection of the Italian Republic. This unprecedented tribute honours one of the world’s most iconic Italian brands through two remarkable creations of artistic and technical excellence: the first €100 coin ever issued by the Italian Republic and a prestigious three-coin silver set, featuring some of the most celebrated Ferrari models, from the 499P to the F80 and 296 Speciale, paying tribute to the technological evolution of Ferrari’s hybrid V6 powertrain.

The €100 coin, struck in one ounce of 999.9‰ gold, marks a historic milestone in Italian numismatics. Never before has the Republic issued a coin with this face value, a choice that underscores both the exceptional nature of the issue and the exclusivity of the brand it celebrates. On the obverse, finished in Proof, is the Ferrari 499P, the car that triumphed in the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship. The reverse presents an essential yet powerful composition: the iconic Prancing Horse, free from any additional decorative elements, emerges dramatically from the background through a Reverse Proof finish, transforming Ferrari’s emblem into a sculptural icon engraved in precious metal.

The same visual language characterises the 999‰ silver three-coin set, consisting of three €6 one-ounce coins dedicated to the Ferrari 499P, F80, and 296 Speciale. Each coin features a different model on the obverse, representing Ferrari’s technological innovation and design excellence, while the common reverse showcases the Prancing Horse at the centre of the composition. The absence of additional graphic elements creates a clean and contemporary visual effect, enhanced by the contrast between the Proof obverses and the Reverse Proof reverses.

Together, the issues share a strong and distinctive aesthetic identity that translates the essence of Ferrari into numismatic form. The interplay of polished and frosted surfaces enhances the sculptural quality of the engravings, making each coin a masterpiece of craftsmanship designed for collectors, motorsport enthusiasts, and admirers of Made in Italy excellence.

Their appeal has already been confirmed by a sell-out during the pre-sale phase, a result that reflects Ferrari’s enduring iconic status and the significance of an issue destined to leave a lasting mark.

The Ferrari coins, issued by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and produced by the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato, were designed by engraver Valerio De Seta and minted at the State Mint’s workshops.
