The €5 silver coin dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Vespa joins the 2026 Numismatic Collection of the Italian Republic today. The coin is issued by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and produced by the State Mint of the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato.
The official presentation of the coin took place at the Vespa Village, in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini, Piaggio Group Executive Chairman Matteo Colaninno, Piaggio Group Chief Executive Officer Michele Colaninno, and Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato Chief Executive Officer Michele Sciscioli.
The coin celebrates 80 years of Vespa, a symbol of Italian history and a global icon of style, through a design created by engraver Valerio De Seta. The obverse features the official Vespa 80th Anniversary logo, while the reverse showcases two emblematic models from its history: the 1946 Vespa 98 and the Vespa Primavera 80th Anniversary. The two models are enclosed within a hexagon inspired by the Piaggio brand identity and accompanied by the inscription “VESPA. FOREVER ICONIC.” The coin pays tribute to a symbol of Made in Italy that has crossed generations and borders for eight decades.
